Reid de Jong
Reid de Jong holds a Master of Law (LL.M.) degree in Dutch Civil Law from the University of Groningen and is an accredited Legal Mediator. With a working experience in P&I and FD&D since 2013, his strong analytical skills and legal expertise enable him to effectively advise clients on their legal position and how to resolve any problems navigating the complex maritime world while delivering practical solutions. He has a strong nautical background and holds various marine certificates including an EU certificate of qualification as a boat master on large vessels.

Sander is a P&I Correspondent at Dutch P&I, with a strong background as a maritime officer on seagoing vessels and nearly ten years of experience in loss assessment. He has a thorough understanding of both the technical and legal aspects of maritime incidents, having worked as a senior marine surveyor. After earning his license from the Hogere Zeevaartschool in Vlissingen in 2010, Sander sailed on various ship types and eventually holding his Chief Officer licence. In his current role, he assists ship owners, operators, and insurers with damage claims, crew issues, and other maritime matters.

Muhammed earned a Bachelor's degree in Law in 2014 and began his career as a Legal Counselor at the Turkish Ministry of Defence, specializing in legal matters related to the international affairs and maritime law. In pursuit of deeper expertise, he completed a Master's degree in Maritime and Transport Law at Erasmus University in 2021. Transitioning into the commercial side of the industry, Muhammed worked as an Account Manager at a container carrier in 2022. In 2023, he joined Dutch P&I as a P&I Correspondent, bringing extensive knowledge of maritime law and the industry. Actively engaged in the maritime sector since 2014, Muhammed continues to contribute valuable insights and expertise.

Allen Bashford
Allen Bashford, currently serving as a P&I Correspondent at our company, began his career in shipping in 1997 with a container carrier operator, working in logistics. He earned a degree in Maritime Business in 2006 and joined Britannia P&I Club as a Claims Manager the same year. After leaving Britannia in 2014, Allen took a break to explore other industries. He brings a wealth of experience from the P&I Club industry and re-entered the shipping world in 2023, taking on his current role as a P&I Correspondent for Dutch P&I.

Nils Heijboer
Nils commenced his career at Dutch P&I in 1993 as a junior claims handler and P&I Correspondent, and over the years he has gained extensive experience in the shipping industry by working alongside surveyors, shipowners, and charterers. To further specialise, he pursued academic qualifications, graduating in English Maritime Law, and completing the prestigious post-doctoral Grotius Academy in Maritime and Transport Law. Nils also undertook modules at the renowned Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, as well as obtaining multiple insurance diplomas. This enables him to act as an insurance broker in compliance with Dutch AFM regulations. In 2000, Nils took on the responsibility of leading the claims department at Dutch P&I. Following the growth of the group in 2010, Nils was promoted to the position of Director of Claims in 2012. Following a strategic decision in 2020 to refocus on our core business as specialist P&I brokers and P&I correspondents, Nils now has a strong focus on broking, claims, contracts, and P&I Correspondent services. He currently oversees Dutch P&I, Belgian P &I, and Danish P&I. Drawing upon expertise from a career spanning maritime liability, logistics liability, legal affairs, and insurance, he continues to find the industry as dynamic and rewarding as ever, embracing the challenges that each day brings.

Sandra has a passion for the maritime world which was sparked by her family’s deep-rooted connection to the shipping industry After completing her education in 1989, Sandra began her career in the world of P&I, gaining hands-on experience and learning the intricacies of the industry on the job. She started in the Broking and Underwriting support department at a marine insurance broker, building a strong foundation in maritime insurance. Since 2011, she has been part of Dutch P&I, where Sandra provides dedicated support to the Claims department, ensuring smooth handling of claims for our clients and principals.
