Nils commenced his career at Dutch P&I in 1993 as a junior claims handler and P&I Correspondent, and over the years he has gained extensive experience in the shipping industry by working alongside surveyors, shipowners, and charterers. To further specialise, he pursued academic qualifications, graduating in English Maritime Law, and completing the prestigious post-doctoral Grotius Academy in Maritime and Transport Law. Nils also undertook modules at the renowned Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, as well as obtaining multiple insurance diplomas. This enables him to act as an insurance broker in compliance with Dutch AFM regulations. In 2000, Nils took on the responsibility of leading the claims department at Dutch P&I. Following the growth of the group in 2010, Nils was promoted to the position of Director of Claims in 2012. He currently oversees Dutch P&I, Belgian P &I, and Danish P&I. Drawing upon expertise from a career spanning maritime liability, logistics liability, legal affairs, and insurance, he continues to find the industry as dynamic and rewarding as ever, embracing the challenges that each day brings.
